Good skincare ideas for the new year...

/ Monday, January 2, 2012 /
Now that 2012 has arrived, I decided to write some things down that will be good for the new year. Of course, as the title of this post states, skincare-related.

1. Use NEW sunscreen!
What I mean by this is that typically, during the summer, most people slather on sunscreen when they go outside on the beach and stuff. People should actually wear sunscreen every day, no matter if they're going to the beach or not. However, most people just keep on using that same old bottle of sunscreen every summer. However, the chemicals that make the SPF properties of sunscreen actually work expire after about a year. So chuck out that old bottle and buy a bottle that has ingredients that are still active. Trust me, you won't regret it.

2. Put olive oil on your eyelashes before you go to sleep at night. I know, this sounds really gross, but the thing is that it nourishes your eyelashes, making them stronger, and also helps them grow out longer and thicker. Most people forget that eyelashes are also hair, just like the hair on your head. Why not take care of the hair that protects your eyes properly as well?

3. Lotion up all parts of  your body. Even if you moisturize just your face and hands, remember that the other parts of your body need a little TLC as well. I like to moisturize my arms and legs at night, and put scentless lotion on them. At night, when I sleep, the lotion gets absorbed by the skin, and when I wake up, my skin feels all smooth again!

4. Don't bite your nails. While this is not necessarily a skincare-related issue, nails are actually made of the same material as your skin, except in a different form as keratin. Biting your nails can increase your susceptibility to infection, and of course infection is bad. So try to break that habit if you have it! One way people can do it is if they apply nail polish, even if it is just clear nail polish, on their nails. The nasty taste of the nail polish will definitely deter you from biting.

5. Massage your face. This will allow your face to relax, and you will also feel refreshed afterwards. If you've gotten a back massage before, or hand massage, or any type of massage for that matter, you've probably remembered how good you felt afterward. Massaging your face will increase the blood circulation in your face and make you feel much better afterwards as well!

All righty, that's all I have for now. Hope this helps!
