Chinese Tag! (from Alex Elkins)

/ Saturday, December 3, 2011 /
Hey guys and gals,

Here's a tag that was requested from Alex Elkins (her blog/link is here).

Which part of China are you from?

I'm from the north.

Do you have pressure to get straight A's in school?

Yup! Isn't that typical though? Read Tiger Momma's story on http://vitamincgoodness.blogspot.com/2011/02/tiger-mother.html for my perspective on it. Fortunately, I did manage to "satisfy" my parents (although I can't say the same thing for college....)

Do you fit into any Asian stereotypes?

Stereotypically, stuff asian people like, I guess I'm kind of stereotypical? (Here's my rendition of stuff asian
people like and its "official" list)

I'm pretty traditional for a person in the Western world. I'm the kind of person who highly values parents and respects their beliefs (even if I do not always agree with them).

Now that I've run out of things to list (or think about) for Asian stereotypes off the top of my head, I'm gonna go with help from here:
I am definitely NOT a geisha doll or a dragon lady. I don't have small, slanted, pointy eyes.

I am smart. I can think on my feet well.

I DO NOT eat cats and dogs! (How could I? They're so cute!) I don't really even eat beef or pork (rarely), so if anything, I am more environmentally-friendly and animal-loving than those who do....?

I do have bad vision. Terrible vision. I hunt for my glasses in the morning. When I lose my glasses, I'm just like Velma from Scooby-Doo: "My glasses, where are my glasses?" Haha ^_^

I'm not thin. I'm normal-sized, with boobs and a butt and everything. I do have tiny hands and feet.

I guess I am pretty polite, but once you get to know me, I'm really really loud.

I don't know kung fu! Although I love watching it =D

I don't know about the Asian phallic object length discrepancy with those of Caucasian and African-American counterparts. That is because I don't have one myself......

I guess I do believe in:
-Eastern herbal medicine (when western medication doesn't work, even when it is purported to do so)
-The harmony of nature (after all, I am a biologist!)
-Confucius and SOME of his teachings (after all, he did like women to be ignorant, and I DO NOT like that)

Rice or Chow Mein?

Uhh, neither? Hahah ^_^

Seriously, though, I just don't really like filler foods. Perhaps rice if I really really needed a filler. But only rice made in the correct way (no long-grained, hard stuff)

Is your future partner going to be Chinese too?

Of course, I am not clairvoyant, so I do not know, but I kinda actually want to date outside my ethnicity. I think it would be fun meeting people of new cultures and learning about them. If I dated a traditional Chinese boy with values and ideas very similar to mine, wouldn't that be kinda dull?

Do you speak Chinese?

Yes! Though not "ching-chong ting-tong ling-long." To find my opinion on that, click here.

Hope this was fun and satisfied some curiosity!
