This video explains it all.
Gossmakeupartist is Wayne Goss, a renowned makeup artist from the UK. In this vid, he discusses the top 3 products to buy for maintaining youthful skin without cosmetic surgery.
I definitely agree with him. This is especially after I've done quite a bit of research/reading to learn about skincare and its science.
I would definitely suggest anyone who would like to learn more about these ingredients to watch his video.
Enjoy!

Retiring YT MUA of the Month Series
Hey guys and gals,
After an ample amount of time of thinking, I've decided to retire the series I created, the Youtube Make-Up Artist of the Month. I don't have a lot of time to write posts, and I've already brought in and introduced many makeup artists who I think have unique, personal channels. I'm sorry if I am letting down any of my readers; I will be putting up more posts on sundry topics on this blog still.
Thanks for your understanding,
Med School Girl

April YT MUA of the Month!!!
This month's Youtube MUA of the Month is...
Diamondandheels14!
Diamondandheels14 is the user name of Cassandra Bankson, a 19-20 year old girl living in the Bay area of California. Cassandra is a model who does lots of youtube videos on makeup and skincare in her spare time!
She's done TONS of vids. Like, on my feed, she puts out perhaps 1-2 a day. That's a lot, considering how many days are in a year. Seriously!
Truth: Cassandra really has very acne-prone skin, meaning, lots of acne. However, she is able to use makeup to cover it up (very heavy coverage makeup). Look at the transformation here!
She said later on a talk show/news show that when she first put out this video, she didn't look at Youtube for a month, because she was so afraid of what everyone was going to say. She said that she had very little self-confidence about it but wanted to show the world the truth. And you know what? The world was so kind and responsive to it, for her bravery and courage! I personally applaud her for doing this. She is a beautiful young woman with a ton of talent and zest!
More videos:
Advice on skincare:
Ways to stop popping pimples:
Acne treatment:
Cystic acne:
Dirty makeup brushes with acne:
One thing that's really cool about her is that she connects skincare with makeup, which is something that is really important, as both are things that work on the skin. Very good!
Cassandra's actually been on a ton of talk shows and had a lot of publicity.
Things like:
UK Lorraine Show:
Good Morning America:
etc.
I would highly recommend diamondandheels14 as a channel to subscribe to for skincare and makeup-related topics. Really cool girl with a great attitude on life, and lots of courage and bravery!

One of the cool things I like about her is that she uses both drugstore and high-end products, so that means that you get the whole range of products. She is very down-to-earth, seems like a very nice person, and is very kind and sweet =D

Music/videos I'm liking right now...
Lately, I've really been liking the "Above All That Is Random" series by YT music artist, Christina Grimmie, and her friend Sarah (I don't know her last name). Basically, this series is making use of Autotune with lyrics from random songs to create awesome new songs.
Here is the latest one, #5:
#4:
#3:
#2:
#1:
Kevjumba's "My Dad Taught Me" video, poking fun at stereotypical Asian dads (lolz!):
A very inspirational video from Bubzbeauty on the importance of being yourself, embracing your inner beauty, accepting and loving yourself for the way you are:
Sam Tsui's cover of "Domino" by Jessie J:
Bubzbeauty's advice on how to deal with negative people:
And now for the nerdy side of me...
And a relatively old vid made by a long-time friend of mine, Oblivious Alsk, about gamers using a program called "Fold-It" to discover the structure of a protein. I actually used the program during my biochemistry class in second year of university! Thus, transitively, I actually helped discover the structure of this protein! (At least sort of, I guess) So cool, huh? Yup!
Those are your 10 vids! Today is definitely a special day because this year, 2012, we actually have a leap year. Hehe, one of my friends was actually born on the 29th. When I asked him in high school how he celebrated his birthday, he said he just had a party every 4 years. According to the Gregorian calendar, he's only 5 years old. However, in my book, he's 20 =D
Ciao, my (male and female) bellas!

February 2012 YT MUA of the Month
Here we go again!
The February 2012 YT MUA of the Month is....
cydangie!
Cydangie is the screen name of a girl named Cydia. She is an interior design student living in New York. I've got to say, she's pretty darn amazing. Cydia focuses mostly on high-end products and also does skincare. She's the one from who I found out about MyGlam.
Cydia does the ordinary YT MUA videos such as:
Best Beauty Products:
Hauls:
Various tutorials:
Basic smokey eye:
School:
Blue eyeliner:
Focus on MAC lipstick:
and etc.
She tends to do a lot of giveaways as well, involving haircare products as well as circle lenses. I don't wear circle lenses but I know they are a major trend in East Asia.
What I really think is cool about her is that she has her own online makeup shop. At Cydangie's Beauty Shop, one can buy eyeshadow palettes, face palettes, brushes, false lashes, jewelry, nail work, phone cases, purse hangers, etc. She owns this company by herself and ships out to the entire world.
Here are reviews of her shop and some of its products:
All in all, she's a pretty cool girl. And the cool thing is that she responds to comments on her YT vids! Interesting.
She also sent me a PM on YT thanking me for subscribing when I did. Which is something no other YTer has EVER done for me. In my entire history of going on YT.
I personally think she is an amazing, beautiful girl.
If you're interested, go check out her channel!

This month's Youtube Makeup Artist of the Month is.....
secretlifeofabionerd!!!!!
As you guys have probably seen before in some of my previous posts, I absolutely ADORE secretlifeofabionerd. This is the YT screen name of Kieu L. Cao, and is a fashion student based in Houston, Texas. She was originally from Nebraska but moved to Houston to attend fashion school.
What I really like about KL is that she offers not only stuff on makeup, but also fashion (after all, she IS a fashion student!), hair tutorials, advice about life, and comedy.

My Glam Bag, January 2012
Hey guys and gals,
I got of a long day of classes (8 AM - 6 PM!) and have just finished up some work, and I am absolutely exhausted, but I am going to post this since I think this is a very time-sensitive post.
I decided to subscribe to My Glam after seeing some Youtube videos about it. My Glam is a subscription service that sends beauty and skincare products to customers 1X/month for $10 each month. It was founded by Michelle Phan and some of her collaborators. For more info, please click here.
There was a mix-up for bags for the month of January, so a lot of the bags were sent out late. Normally they are sent out around the 10th, but for some reason this month it wasn't so. Anyways, I have just gotten my bag, and I really wanted to show you guys it.
This was the package:
And here is the inside:
As you can see, I got a Freeman's Peel-off Cucumber Mask + Glam Bag.
Sheer Cover duo concealer in light/medium.
Shady Lady eyeshadow from theBalm.
Inside of the eyeshadow - in Shameless Shana.
Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner from Wen, by Chaz Dean. I've heard rave reviews about it. We'll see how it is!
Here is the bag itself.
Do you see there is a stain on it, even though I didn't put it there? O.o
Here are all of the inserts and the discount codes that the bag includes. Pretty cool eh?
What's my overall reaction? Hmm... very interesting. We'll see how this goes. Should I keep on subscribing? Yes or no? Have you guys used any of these products before? If you have, were they good/bad/ok/or something else? Leave a comment below!

The scariest face mask monster in the world!
Hey guys,
Today I'm gonna share with you all one of my skincare regiment secrets.
It's these:
What are these? These are called compressed face masks. They're a huge beauty skincare fad in East Asia. What they can do is, if you make your own concoction of liquid stuff, and put these in, they literally expand out and become a face mask.
Presently, there is a line of face masks that are pretty awesome, sold in East Asia, by My Beauty Diary:
:
These can be found at www.sasa.com, www.amazon.com, eBay, etc.
However, the thing is that these things run at about $14-$15/box of 10 masks, which is pretty pricey, if you think about it in the long run.
Thus, hence comes out with the compressed face mask!
Here's a tutorial made by secretlifeofabionerd on it, which I featured on a blog post way way early on:
My version is very similar to her's. I use a 1:1 ratio of cucumber juice and lemon.
What I do is I:
-Slice up a cucumber into thin slices
-Cut a lemon into wedges
-Throw the slices of cucumber into a blender
-Squeeze the lemon juice on top of the slices of cucumber (don't worry if seeds get in)
-Put the blender on high-speed until everything is pureed
-Take a CLEAN cheesecloth, or a CLEAN face cloth you don't mind getting dirty, and dump the pureed mixture into it, and squeeze that juice into a cup. (Note: this step can be very messy!)
Then, when I need the mask, I:
-Put the mask into a dry cup
-Mix up the concoction, and spoon it onto the mask
-If it is very cold outside, then I heat up the mask + concoction for about 10 seconds in the microwave.
-Open up the mask, and put it on my face
-Leave on for 30-40 min
After I feel that all of the goodies from the cucumber and lemon have gotten onto my face, I take off the mask, and rub my face with the cloth. Then I dump it.
This stuff is sooo good, guys and gals. It helps a lot out with oil control, helps prevent me from getting zits, but most of all, it is EXTREMELY EXTREMELY fresh.

Wanna see a scary face monster?
Ahhhh!!!!
Yup. That's what it looks like. A unibrow, war-torn face monster. (jk I actually don't have a unibrow. Although this picture might suggest otherwise)
I gave a bunch of these face masks to one of my friends during a Secret Santa Exchange/Potluck party we recently had at university. If she ever gets a chance to look for how to use them, here's the place!
Anyways, hope this is helpful!
